REFLECTIONS
Experience：
At the beginning, I had almost no knowledge of typography. After fourteen weeks of study, I discovered the beauty of typography, and made me realize that learning fonts is also helping me to make better. design. And as a Chinese, I didn’t understand English fonts at the beginning. After 14 weeks of study, I found the charm of English fonts.With the creation of our e-portfolio I frequently update it with the creative process of the exercises and projects that were assigned. We started off our exercises with sketching and through out the module it had been proven to be very useful for better designs. As it was a part of almost all our projects, it helped with idea generation and the next step; Digitization. This is the stage where I truly gained an understanding of the power of typefaces. I was able to express the meaning of a word with a typeface with minimal use of other graphic elements. The digitization process was always followed by animating our work. This was a new area of skills for me and I gained a lot of skills with creating frames for animation.
Observations：
For the first time, I realized the meaning of "design comes from life", because when I did the font design of project 2, I actually had no idea for a long time, I didn’t know how to do it, but when I paid attention to myself In the surrounding environment, I found my inspiration appeared, and then made my own satisfactory design. After that time, I became more interested in observing things around me and thinking about how to bring the things around me into my design work.
Finding：
The greatest discovery and enlightenment that I learned from the fourteen lessons is that the design is to serve most people, not just to express myself. Because as a Chinese, when I came to Malaysia, I discovered that people have completely different living habits. The climate and nature are also very different from China. This environment has created completely different cultures and people's different understanding of things. Therefore, if I only do design that Chinese people can understand, I can't do it. I need to do design that can be understood by people all over the world. In order to work towards this goal, first of all I have to make my design clear and logical.
