LECTURES

Week 10- begining of final project:

In week9's lecture we be ask to choose some sentence we like as a option line for the final project poster, then improve it to the final project outcome.
I have choose these three sentence:

1.YOU CAN DREAM BUT DO NOT NEGLECT THE EXECUTION.

2.IT'S BEAUTY IN THE STRUGGLE.

3.THE ONLY REAL CHANGE COME FROM INSIDE.

After Mr. Vinod's advise, I decide to choose the second sentence. This sentence from a song----'Love yourz'."Love Yourz" is a song by American rapper J.cole. This song talk about America black people's life.Their life maybe so hard, almost time of their life is in the struggle, but their have to look forward, and no other option.

Form the prospect of this song, I started my sketch.

After I done these sketches, I think the second one is best one in here.

Let me explain what the second one concept is:

I means beauty and struggle are always in our life, maybe most of our life are in struggle, but we work hard, trying again and again, we can arrive in beauty. So I think maybe our life just like a slots machine, when people play it, almost time you will feel upset, because you lost your money almost time. However, you work hard, and keep trying again and again, you also have possible get a good reward.

After Week 11 lecture. I got the feedback from Mr. Vinod. He think I should try to get the word more visible. Let people esier to read it. And at the last people can easier to see the whole sentence.

Then I start try to make it look better.

After lots of trying, I decide use this as my final poster. (below here)

Then I start to animate it. First I try to let all the letter roll down.

Why I want do this, is because I have to make it look like a gambling machine.

Then I start to do this.

First I start do all the letters that should be rolling in Adobe Illustration.

Then I put it in After Effect. Let the letters starting move.

At first, I designed this as the final outcome.

In week11's lecture, Mr. Vinod give me some feedback about this work. He told me do not need to put my name and some information on this work, and do not use white background as a final.

After Mr. Vinod 's feedback, I do some adjust on it.

FEEDBACK

Week10: General Feedback:Do not do any illustrate, strech on the final poster. Specific Feedback: Change my final project letter from"it is beauty in the struggle." to"there is beauty in the struggle."

Weeek11: General Feedback: Generally, how to deal with white space is the point. The poster must have an idea. Identify the key words. They have potential for ideas. Focus on strengthening the visual impact. Specific Feedback: Change my letter, ande make my final poster more visible.

Week12:

General Feedback:Continuously update the e-portfolio.
Specific Feedback: Mr.Vinod told me some feedback about this work. He told me do not need to put my name and some information on this work, and do not use white background as a final.

REFLECTIONS

Experience:
This week Mr. Vinod and Mr. Shamsul inform us that this is the last week we have to get out blogs up and finish our final project because the next class was submission already. Everyone was rushing to finish their final project and the whole class was quiet during most of the class because everyone was so focused on what they were doing and also listening to instructions given by Mr. Vinod and Mr. Shamsul.

Observations:I was extra concentrate this class because I was trying to finish the final touches for my final project and also trying to think of a good idea for what I can do for my animation.

Findings:
When I listen to the feedback my lecturers give, it actually helps me a lot by setting me on the right path on what I did well, what I have to change and where needs more improvement in my designs and I am very thankful for that.

FURTHER READING

figure4.1: Type. A Visual History of Typefaces & Graphic Styles

This comprehensive collection offers a thorough overview of typeface design from 1628 to the mid-20th century. Derived from a distinguished Dutch collection, a series of exquisitely designed catalogues traces the evolution of the printed letter via specimens in roman, italic, bold, semibold, narrow, and broad fonts. Borders, ornaments, initial letters, and decorations are also included, along with lithographic examples, letters by sign writers, inscription carvers, and calligraphers.

A remarkable duo of books with some truly amazing Type specimens. Overall an extremely nice publication but hardly a "Visual History of Typefaces and Graphic Styles" as the title boldly claims. The format is somehow confusing: the reader is left alone wandering in the - utterly amazing - ocean of specimens from a private collection.
