Lecture

week1

Today  Mr. Asrizal brief us on the module and the approach will be different than last semester due to pandemic we're having. Next, we have used around 20 minutes to form a group before having lecture with Mr.Charles.
The lecture contain two ways of collecting data which is "Netnography" & "Ethnography".

week2

We had 2 guest speakers today, Mr Tintoy, the founder of Fusion Wayang Kulit, and Ms Natasha, the CEO of Gahara Batik. The first session was filled by Mr Tintoy for around one and a half hour through Zoom. He shared about how he came up with this idea of fusing Wayang Kulit and modern characters.
After a short break, we moved onto the next session with Ms Natasha. During her talk, I could see how much she loves and appreciates Batik. She shared about how Batik can be a way people communicate, like a language. The pattern and placement itself can also indicate someone's characteristic, status, and class. Ms Natasha also reminded us to not judge a Batik just by simply looking at the small folded block, but instead, we should unfold it, to see the detail and pattern better.

week3

Our guest speakers for today were Mr Munir and Ms Emelia. Mr Munir is a fashion designer and an experienced figure in the art and culture of Malaysia. He was very humble in telling his story. He told us how having the years of experience in culture study helped him a lot with his current career as a fashion designer.
The next session was filled by Ms Emelia, a design practitioner, senior lecturer, writer and successful artist. We learned about culture studies from this session. Culture studies helps us to analyze culture and emphasizes the political and social context when you're analyzing culture. They infect the culture production. Hence, they usually work for the minority subjects unequality.

PROJECT1 - PROPOSAL

In proposal part, I did lots of research on harajuku background knowledeg. I have tried to found some interesting things from it, so I watch lots of video on youtube, see lots of artcle about harajuku fashion. Our group member also work together, put everything that they think intrested, they will put it on our share document.

Than I work on the proposal slide to help our presentation audience easier to understand what we want to do.

PROJECT2 - DATA COLLECTION

Than we start collect information for the final design work.

I did lots of research on acadamic article and documentary, all these background knowledge help me know what is this culture, and why it has attraction.

In this part I also undertake the whole slide making, and edit the presentation video.

FINAL PROJECT

figure1.2

This is my final outcome, why I design this:

1.In my research findings, Harajuku style has a performance nature, I hope it is colorful in my final design.
2.Harajuku style almost accept everything, so I put lots of kawaii (cute) things on her clothes.
3.And also harajuku style is a no bounds style so I try to integrate yami kawaii, decora and cosplay style into my final design.
